OUR MISSION:

PEAR TREE Avian Sanctuary provides placement for unwanted psittacines.  We rescue, rehabilitate, and adopt out relinquished parrots.  In extreme cases we offer a permanent home.  PEAR TREE offers parrot owners education and assistance with basic bird care, nutrition and behavior issues.

Parrot Education, Adoption, & Rehabiliation (PEAR) serves as a temporary sanctuary facility for exotic birds.  At PEAR TREE we strive to educate about the responsibilities of companion parrot ownership, as well as proper care techniques.  When a bird owner is unable to keep their pet, we provide the means to find a loving, suitable new home.

In Loving Memory....

Pebbles arrived in January 2006. She was a Lesser Sulfur Crested Cockatoo. She initially plucked her own feathers due to grief when her original owner died. She lived in many homes since then and her feather plucking became chronic due to stress and neglect. Many of her feather follicles had permanent damage from repeated plucking and never grew back.  She traveled to numerous classrooms in Southwest Missouriin an effort to educate people about the many responsibilities of having a pet parrot. Pebbles made a lot of progress during her process of socialization and she gained a few new feathers. She was a permanent resident of PEAR TREE Avian Sanctuary due to her severe seperation anxiety and phobic tendancies.

"Wooo Pebbles!"
